METHOD OF EDUCATION

Our method of teaching is in conformity with the mental age of the children and thus varies from class to class. We introduce the children to learning by “playway” methods so that lessons do not become a burden on them. The idea is make books interesting and learning a pleasure. A large number of toys and assorted teaching aids coming under the Montessori teaching methods are provided for this. The system of education is far from being rigid and a relaxed atmosphere is maintained throughout.
The school also uses visual aids and taped music. The T.V. and DVD set is installed in the school. The school CD/DVD library has varied selection of educational films on animals, plant life, elementary science and safety. When the weather changes make it difficult for them to play outside, these keep the children engage. This kind of exposure triggers off children’s curiosity and provides an interesting and novel way of widening their mental horizon.

ART GAMES & DRAMATICS

Music, dancing, drawing and painting are as important to the children as the three R’s (Reading, Writing, Arithmetic). The instruction and teaching in these fields is such that the children will grow upto appreciate the finer aspects of life and be proud of rich and varied Indian heritage. Drawing and painting classes focus on self expression, while the children are given basic guidelines in the particular art. By exposing the child to these arts the child is given a chance to exercise his originality and creativity. This in turn helps the development of his self confidence.
Special hours are being devoted for free play amongst to Playgroup children. Free play in the sand pit keeps the children fit and happily engaged for hours in group activity, which in turn helps to develop the spirit of friendship and learn to communicate with others. The doll’s house, balancing equipment’s, swings, jungle jim etc. help in the development of the motor skill of the children.

HEALTH

Regular height and weight record is maintained for each child. Periodical physical examinations (atleast once year) are conducted in the school by child specialist Dr. Hameeda Tariq, DCH, MD (Paediatrics). If a child is not upto the mark in physical fitness or cleanliness e.g. having lice in hair or skin rashes etc., he or she is advised to stay at home till he or she is completely fit. We believe “Health is Wealth” and “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”.

PARENTS

We need your support

Once the child is admitted in the school, he is a member of Woodbine family, which is made up of the staff, students and parents. The best in the child can be brought out only with mutual co-operation of teachers and parents. Therefore, we have a regular Parents-Teachers-Meeting (P.T.M.) as when required. This is to enable the parents and teachers to discuss the progress and well being of the child Healthy suggestions are always welcome for the progress for the School. The date for PTM’s is informed through notices.
